A Loving Guru

Sri Sri Pran Krsna Das Babaji Maharaj belongs to the spiritual lineage and dynasty of Lord Nityananda descending through Shri Guru-mata Jahnava Thakurani. Babaji received special mercy from his initiating guru Prabhupad Shri Yadugopal Goswami and his son Prabhupad Madangopal Goswami. Scriptures compare the guru to a spiritual father who instructs his disciple as a father does his son. Also, as a son inherits the qualities of the father, a disciple, a spiritual son/daughter, inherits the qualities of their gurudeva. Babaji Maharaj, our Guruji, has such tender affection and concern for his disciples, easily forgiving their offences, that he is compared as a loving mata-guru. Our Babaji Maharaj is just like a caring mother as he has all the qualities of being gentle, caring, very tolerant and forgiving to his spiritual children. He covers his disciples with unlimited care and warmth, protecting them from miseries and placing them at the lotus feet of Shri Ishvari Radhika.

The prayers of Guruji for his disciples unfold an undefeatable power against the illusory energy of this material world. Even though in the position of a gurudev, he often cooks and then serves the Vaishnavas prasad with his own hands. After he has fed everyone, including the female devotees, children and guests, he partakes of whatever is left.

Babaji’s Saintly Qualities and Deeds

Those in Radha-kund who have known him for a long time, consider him a highly exceptional Vaishnav. He loves everyone and longs to serve everyone. For himself, Babaji Maharaj is very grave and steadfast in his daily bhajan. But for his disciples and followers, his ‘weapon’ to correct them is not heavy scolding or hard discipline – it is his loving concern, setting a perfect example and affectionate showers of unreserved compassion on all. My Gurudev has imbibed the above quote , Trnad Api Sunicena…. He is more humble than a blade of grass, He is more tolerant than a tree, He always gives respect to all, never expects any respect for himself and He is always chanting the names of the Lord. The holy name dances on His tongue always .

I am an aspiring devotee of Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar and Sri Sri Dayal Nitai Gauranga, initiated in the lineage coming directly from Lord Nityananda. My Gurudev is a resident of Radha Kund, and so am I.

I am currently visiting USA for a few years till it is time to go back home to Radha Kund.  I love to sing for my deities and these recordings are my expression of love for Them. They inspire me, and I sing a tune. I am sharing this wonderful bliss of kirtan with all of you. There are millions of Ragas in the spiritual world.  In our separation from the Lord we can only imagine what those ragas are.
